Check Out the News on Satellite TV

You could make a valid argument that cable news has transformed the world. Much like the Internet, this medium has given people across the globe immediate access to information. A hundred years ago, news was limited to the info that could be transmitted over telegraph lines, which then had to be reviewed, written up, and printed before mass consumption by the public. Today, thanks to the 24-hour news cycle available on satellite TV, you can keep up to date with events as they occur. No more waiting days to find out what's happening in far-off lands. Click on your high definition television and you'll be immersed right away. Of course, some argue that this isn't really a good thing; after all, the brain needs time to rest and digest information, and most of the news that the viewer is subjected to on Fox, CNN, CNBC, and the other channels is overwhelmingly negative. With the new prevalence of the 24-hour news cycle, another way to look at the situation is as one that can't be avoided; even if you wanted to escape, it sometimes seems like every television, regardless of whether it's housed in a commercial or residential setting, is tuned into to a talking head blaring their opinion on the latest event. When you add to this the fact that the various news networks each add their own spin to news broadcasting, the situation becomes even more tenuous. Who are you to trust. Fox News Network is widely regarded as the "right" wing news station, with newscasters overwhelmingly espousing the views of conservative politics. The Cable News Network (CNN) on the other hand is thought to be perhaps a bit more objective, but still beholden to the views of the left, or liberal persuasion. Many people find themselves yearning for a source of news that simply delivers events, without any spin whatsoever. Luckily, satellite TV subscribers have access to an array of television channels that present a more diverse range of programming and opinions. The British Broadcasting Channel (BBC), for example, is usually regarded as one of the most impartial venues for news in the world, and all it takes to gain access to this wealth of information is a relatively inexpensive subscription to a satellite TV provider. You'll benefit from a more international world view, rather than one that specifically targets American viewers. That's not mentioning the fact that you'll hear the news from a British accent, something that's certainly always a plus. Finally, at some point you may just want to turn the TV off. Keeping up with the 24-hour news cycle can be more trouble than it's worth. Hit power off, and head outside to play sports, or perhaps pick up a book. Watching television certainly has its place and time, but one can find him or her self going batty if you keep up with the news all day and all night. Allocate a half an hour each day to keep up on world events, and go about living your life. Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/1945252
